We did it again! Every three years, we have an opportunity to showcase the quality of our work and gain valuable feedback from CARF International (CARF). As a result of our commitment to high standards of clinical care and client satisfaction, we received another three-year CARF accreditation in 2022 for all of our programs: Behavioral Consultation Services (Autism Services Program), Services for Children & Youth: Early Intervention Services (EI Program) and Community Integration (HCBS Program). This three -year accreditation is the best possible outcome and helps us ensure quality outcomes for the people we serve.

We Want to Hear From You!

As part of our commitment to excellence, we’re focused on delivering quality care to each of our clients and their families. That’s why it’s extremely important to hear from you during our twice yearly survey! Your feedback lets us know how we’re doing and helps us identify areas we can continue to improve.
In October you will receive our second Customer Satisfaction survey of 2022. The short survey will be sent via email from Easterseals Northern California and take less than 10 mins to complete. As a thank you to families who complete the survey, five respondents from each program will be randomly selected to receive a $20 Amazon gift card. We’d love to hear from even more of you this October!

Home and Community-Based Services

For the first time since COVID, the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association hosted its in-person Visitor Industry Charity Walk. For years, this state-wide event has supported local organizations like ours with participant-focused projects. And this year, we were able to give back by staffing the last aid station along the walk. Both participants and staff were so excited for this opportunity to engage with the community and say mahalo for their support.

Participants and staff who took part in the walk talked to others about Easterseals Hawaii, while others passed out cool beverages at the aid station.
The event was a huge success as you can see by the huge smiles across our participants' faces.

Social Chef's Corner
This month the Social Skills Group tested their baking skills with banana bread! After watching a video on how to make the tasty treat, the chefs built their own task analysis and came up with a twist on the recipe. They recommend adding extra chocolate chips to the mixture to make a delicious breakfast or anytime treat!

Tools:
- Fork
- Mixing bowl
- Bread pan
- Oven
Ingredients:
- 3 ripe bananas, peeled
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 cup chocolate chips (3/4 cup for inside and 1/4 cup for top)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Prepare loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray
- In a bowl, add bananas and mash until smooth
- Add in melted butter and stir until well combined
- Add sugar, egg, vanilla, salt, baking soda, flour and stir
- Fold in 3/4 cup chocolate chips
- Add to prepared loaf pan and top with 1/4 cup choloate chips
- Bake for 50 minutes
- Allow bread to fully cool – enjoy
