Early Intervention (EI)
|
Reflecting on 2021, we want to express our sincere appreciation to all of our client families for your partnership. This year was full of many changes, and it’s been our privilege to serve you and support your children’s growth and learning. We’d also like to send a very special mahalo to the students at the Mid-Pacific Institute, pictured here showing their community spirit by donating the proceeds of their annual Cookie Sale to Easterseals Hawaii.

As we approach the end of the year, if you have any out-of-state travel plans, please remember that our EI services can only be provided while you’re in-state (this includes telehealth).
In addition to the holiday office closures listed below, our EI Programs will be closing at 3 pm on Thursday, December 23rd, and Thursday, December 30th. Mele Kalikimaka me ka Hau’oli Makahiki Hou!

Home and Community-Based Services

We’re excited to share that our adult day program has been on the go and enjoying community activities as well as creative crafts. Throughout 2021, the participants really enjoyed learning different skills, like these wonderful weaving projects that Danielle, Garvey and Sasha from our Maui program created. Just take a look at the creative texture and color combinations they designed and constructed!

From enjoying Halloween parties to venturing out into the community for visits to different local shops—our adult day program has had an incredibly productive and growth-filled year. With great things on the horizon for 2022, like our brand-new respite program in partnership with Ewa Village Group Home that’s designed to provide families and caregivers with opportunities to recharge. We look forward to providing this important service and will keep you up to date as we roll out this new program in the New Year.

Autism Services

Holidays in Hawaii are truly magical. So whether you’re celebrating at home or out in your community, we wish you and your ohana happy holidays and a very Happy New Year!
While the holidays bring much joy, they can also bring unique challenges for children with autism. Planning can make a big difference in determining what activities are doable, and allow family fun for everyone.

Check out this article from the Easterseals National office—on the many ways to help prepare for the holidays and events. If you already know that venturing out is for you and your crew, the 37th annual Honolulu City Lights is a fun family experience. Enjoy some time under the stars as you walk the outdoor light displays on the Honolulu Hale grounds.
We hope you all have a safely celebrated holiday season!

Weather Safety
Tis the season for “wintery” weather! We want all our ohana to be safe this season, so be sure to keep an eye on local weather alerts—this website can help you stay in the know. Please note that some severe weather, such as flooding, might result in program closures. We will be sure to keep you updated in the event of early or off-schedule closures of our offices. Also, keep an eye out on North Shore high surf season reminders, and please stay vigilant! Here are some helpful reminders to keep you safe as you venture out in severe weather:
- Stay away from beaches and streams.
- Do not drive into intersections with standing water and avoid puddles on roadways.
- If you have to drive somewhere, be aware of possible road hazards, fallen branches, or trees.
- Stay inside or under protective coverings until the storm has passed.
ESH Office Closures
All Easterseals Hawaii offices and services will be closed in observance of the holidays below.
- Friday, December 24th and Friday, December 31st in observance of
